TWO NEW CONSERVATION PLANS FOR PROTECTED AREAS IN GALICIA: THE NATURAL MONUMENTOS OF THE “FREAGA DE CATASÓS” AND “PENA CORNEIRA”

For a few months, HIDRIA has been working on the elaboration of two conservation plans for two Galician protected areas: The Natural Monument of the Fragas de Catasós, in Lalín (Pontevedra), and the Natural Monument of Pena Coneira, in the municipalities of planes, Leiro and Carballeda de Avia (Ourense).

Through the Department of Environment and Land management (Xunta de Galicia), we are elaborating the documents that will serve so that these natural spaces can maintain all those uses and exploitations that are consistent with the conservation of the values they have, while promote the necessary measures to ensure the preservation and improvement of the conservation status of habitats and species.

By defining the conservation guidelines and the rules of use and utilization of resources, as well as mechanisms to ensure ecological connectivity with other spaces, we will help to protect, conserve and improve natural values of both natural monuments.
