Summary:

Salta Province has received a loan from the IADB to finance the project “Sustainable Tourism Development Programme for Salta Province (STDP)”. This programme has as main goal to increase the socioeconomic development and reduce the poverty rate. More specific objectives are: increasing the tourism expenditure and formal employment levels. The initiative is developed in Protected Areas of the four regions included in the STDP: Salta, Yungas del Norte, Valles Calchaquíes and Puna.

Following activities were performed:

  • Elaborate Territorial Diagnosis to identify the needs regarding tourism infrastructures in the different protected areas: shelters, signage, observatories, docks, viewpoints, etc..
  • Elaborate Proposal of intervention on the destination to be validated through participatory workshops in the four regions of the project.
  • Elaborate Executive projects for its construction.
  • Elaborate Use and Management proposal for selected tourist sites within the Protected Areas and other public use sites.
