Development of a System of Indicators for Sustainable Tourism in the Dominican Republic

Summary: The main objective of the consultancy is to provide the Ministry of Tourism of the Dominican Republic with an Integral System of Indicators for Sustainable Tourism, complying with the following requirements:
- Design of a methodological tool to assess the current state of tourism activity and its effects at an economic, social and environmental level.
- Development of guidelines that allow systematic monitoring of the tourism sector and its compliance with the 2030 Agenda.
- Design of the management procedures of the Indicator System regarding the power supplies, frequency and functions of those responsible for the analysis.
This process was carried out in a participatory manner, with the realization of socialization workshops that allowed validating the relevance of the indicators proposed to assess the sustainability of tourism activity in the country.
