Uxía López-Dóriga
Graduate in Marine Sciences from the University of Vigo and Master of Science (MSc) in the area of Oceanography from the University of Cadiz. She has completed her academic and research training by obtaining the title of Doctor (Ph.D) in Marine Sciences from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, whose thesis entitled “The influence of climate change on the coastal risk landscape of the Catalan coast” won the prize for the best doctoral thesis on climate change in the Spanish Mediterranean arc awarded by the Chair of Climate Change at the University of Valencia. In addition, she specialised in the advanced use of GIS applied to coastal management and definition of marine protected areas, land use planning, and development of tools for the analysis of coastal vulnerability and spatial planning.
In recent years, she has participated in several national and international projects related to coastal geomorphology and coastal vulnerability, beach carrying capacity assessment, and flood zone delimitation and risk assessment. She is the author of several scientific articles on GIS methodology and development of coastal erosion and inundation models and their potential influence on local and regional economies, reflecting the multidisciplinary nature and adaptability of her professional career.
