Patricia Casal

Senior consultant specialising in Spatial Planning and conservation of natural areas, with more than 17 years of experience in consultancy at national and international level. Throughout her career, she has developed more than 40 projects and worked in more than 10 countries, providing technical assistance to numerous organisations and public administrations in the elaboration and implementation of conservation policies and plans.

She lived for more than 2 years in the United States and for 7 years in Portugal, where she became familiar with working in multicultural environments. After completing graduate studies in Geographic Information Systems at Cornell University (2009, New York) she specialised in advanced GIS applied to land use planning, and the analysis of carrying capacity and ecological connectivity in protected areas.

She has collaborated in many projects with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the PRODETUR Programme of Brazil, UNDP Georgia, Care International, the World Bank, the Ozone Secretariat of UNEP, the Ecoagriculture Partners Foundation, the Ministry of Environment, and the Secretary of State for Climate Change of the Government of Spain, among other multilateral organisations and entities.

She holds a degree in Biology specialising in the Conservation of Natural Spaces and a Master of Science (MSc) in Ecology from the University of Vigo. In addition, she completed a Postgraduate Master in Environmental Management and Environmental Public Policies and is a Certified Auditor of Environmental Management Systems ISO 14.001 and EMAS.
