PRODUCTION OF THE MANAGEMENT PLAN AND MINUTE OF THE PROPOSED BILL FOR THE COASTAL MANAGEMENT POLICY IN SERGIPE STATE – BRAZIL

SUMMARY: The instrument of coastal planning and management of Sergipe State must contribute to the sustainable development of its coastline and to improve the quality of life of local communities. Therefore, in its elaboration it has been taken into account the productive activities that were taking place on the coast and the protection of the natural resources on which they depend.

The project had an important participatory component, involving all agents and stakeholders in the elaboration process, both of the Management Plan, as of the Bill.

In the development of the project, the following actions were carried out:

  1. Improving knowledge of the current state of Sergipe coastline, through a diagnosis of its environmental, social and economic conditions.
  2. Elaborating a Coastal Management Plan. This Plan includes coastal area zoning, that allows the protection of natural resources and economic and social growth of the communities present in the area of influence.
  3. Elaborating of the minute of the bill for the State Policy which regulate the uses and activities of the coast.
