Tourism infrastructure projects in protected areas of Salta (Argentina)

DEVELOPMENT OF EXECUTIVE PROJECTS FOR THE DESIGN OF TOURISM INFRASTRUCTURE IN THE SALTA PROVINCE – ARGENTINA

SUMMARY: The project called “Sustainable Tourism Development Programme for Salta Province (STDP)” wants to identify and develop new infrastructure initiatives, to put Salta on the map as a priority ecotourism destination, with actions developed in Protected Areas of the four regions included in the within the STDP: Salta, Yungas del Norte, Valles Calchaquíes and Puna.

The following activities were performed:

  • Territorial Diagnosis to identify the needs regarding tourism infrastructures in the different protected areas: shelters, signage, observatories, docks, viewpoints, etc..
  • Proposal of intervention on the destination to be validated through participatory workshops in the four regions of the project.
  • Executive projects to be constructed.
  • Use and Management proposal for selected tourist sites within the Protected Areas and other public use sites.
